Tuc-Tin is a wonderful recently renovated fisherman's cottage. Perfect for two, perfect for five (plus
travel
cot can also be provided), and everyone in between!
We have retained all the character and charm and added lovely things like a shower-bath and essential dishwasher and washing machine/dryer! Tuc-Tin is in the heart of the thriving sea-side town of East Looe on the south coast of Cornwall. It is set in the old part of the town, down a quiet lane, with a flowerpot filled alley outside the back door. From the bright blue front door it is only 200m to the beautiful sandy beach and paved promenade and only 200m the other way to the fishing boats on the quay, restaurants and shops. This is the perfect setting for a holiday where, if you don't want to drive further, stop here! Tuc-Tin is the perfect place from which to explore beautiful Cornwall. The picturesque fishing harbour of Polperro is 10 minutes drive and Mevagissey is 40 minutes. The town of Fowey is 20 minutes via the Boddinick ferry and Lostwithiel is only a short distance away. The Eden Project is fantastic if you find yourself with a rainy day (about 40 mins). Looe has a train station so is very easy if you don't want to come by car. And there is a good bus service to Plymouth for a days shopping. The famous harbour of Padstow and other attractions on the North Coast are only about an hour away so Looe is a perfect center for touring the whole of Cornwall. Leave the car parked, and walk to Talland Bay or Polperro along the Coastal Path. Join a sea fishing trip from the quay for shark or mackerel. You will know you are on your holidays when you see the bright blue shutters. The front
door takes you straight into the cottage. Slate tiles throughout the ground
floor are typical of Cornwall, and mean you don't have to worry about sandy feet
at the doorstep. There are two lovely leather sofas with lots of cushions to
snuggle into. To the front, a stylish wood slat blind gives privacy, and sumptuous gold and blue Monkwell curtains make it cosy in the winter. Central heating throughout means you can enjoy this gorgeous cottage at any time of year. There is TV with a digital receiving box (includes radio stations) with DVD/CD player and a small selection of DVDs, please feel free to bring your own along either to keep the kids quiet or for a romantic evening once they're in bed. There is a handy Chinese takeaway just down the road so you wont even have to cook!
A flight of winding stairs leads from the living room upstairs to the pretty first floor twin bedroom, half shown here! Two 3' single beds with pocket sprung mattresses means this could easily sleep adults instead of children. There is a TV with video (please bring your own). You will love the paintings done by my dad! We can also provide one travel cot suitable for up to age 2 years. This could be sited in the twin room, there is not a huge amount of space around it. Fine if you are not using both beds but could be a bit of a squeeze if all beds are full. But hey, you'll all be so exhausted from the beach you'll be fast asleep anyway!
The bathroom with shower-bath is modern and brand new. There is a
radiator in each room for extra winter warmth. Up a further steep flight of
stairs brings you to the cosy double bedroom with a large and comfortable 5 foot
Queen size bed. There is a TV with DVD ready for that lovely lie-in you've been
promising yourselves. Also on the top floor is a cute single bedded room. This room has a 3' single bed, with pocket sprung mattress, chest of drawers and hanging hooks so no problem with the luggage even here. This room can also fit the travel cot but you cannot use the single bed at the same time due to space restrictions unless you are a little athletic!
When the tide is out you can walk along the coast over beach and rocks to the next village where you can pick up the Coastal Path for the return journey if you like. There are plenty of rock-pools for a child (or adult!) with bucket and net to explore.
Shark and deep sea fishing trips are available from the quay (about £20 half day). October-April charges are lower. Norman Peane carpark £12/week Oct-Apr). Drive to the cottage to drop off luggage and holidaymakers before going to park. You have to reverse back out (or in) but this in not a problem and only perhaps 40 yards. Some of our guests tell me they park at the top of the hill in the Barbican for free parking and very healthy exercise, although we have not tried this ourselves and we park in Hannafore (through West Looe) on the seafront, quite a walk back but also free. Accommodation:

washer/dryer, microwave, dishwasher, toaster and kettle. First floor - Twin bedded room with two 3' single beds (pocket sprung mattresses). Bedside tables, and hanging hooks. TV/Video, digibox. We have a travel cot which can be located in this twin room. It is a squeeze if all beds are full. Bathroom
fitted with showerbath, WC and wash-basin. Second floor - Double bedroom with 5' Queen size double bed (pocket sprung mattress), and remote TV with DVD and digibox. Chest of drawers. Built in wardrobe. Hairdryer. Single bedroom with 3" single bed, with pocket sprung mattress, suitable for an adult, chest of drawers, and hanging hooks. Outside - there is no garden, although outside the back door is a pretty flowerpot filled alley in which you can hang wet bathing suits and leave buckets and spades. Facilities and services: Inclusive electricity and Gas central heating thermostatically controlled though out. Inclusive of all bed linen. Due simply to the logistics of laundering towels enough for 5 people YOU MUST BRING YOUR OWN TOWELS. (Don't forget ones for the beach too!) No
smoking in the cottage. No pets. Arrive after 3pm/Depart by 10am Saturday or for
winter breaks any day by arrangement. Nearest sandy beach 200m. Nearest restaurants 50m. Town centre and shops 300m. Cash point 400m. Post Office. Chinese takeaway, Pasty shop, hairdresser, small supermarkets, fruit&veg, wet fish shop and all the facilities of a small town all within short walking distance. The
brand new well equipped kitchen will make your stay here easy. Dishwasher,
washing machine/dryer, hob, oven, microwave, fridge etc. A dining table for all
the family to sit round - plenty of time to talk about your trip to the beach or
your trip to the quay or around the town.
Looe
is acquiring the most fantastic selection of places to eat and drink too. The
tapas bar in the centre of town has a fabulous range. Trawlers on the Quay is
the place to treat yourself for your anniversary or birthday do. You even have a
lovely view of the river from Trawlers, ask for a window table, they are very
obliging. Our favourite is Papa Ninos for delicious pasta and lots of
wine!Watch the fishing boats coming in to unload at the fish market on the quay.
There is a great wet fish shop
The
huge sandy beach is fantastic for sunbathing and sand castling. There are no
dogs allowed at any time of the year so you know your children are safe with
their buckets and spades. There is a cafe right by the beach so you don't need
to walk far for a cuppa, ice-creams, chips and other snacks. In the summer hire
deck chairs and wind-breaks on the beach and let the kids go on the
trampolines.
